Jacob's Dream: The Ladder to Heaven at Bethel

 





Jacob, fleeing from his brother Esau, stops to rest for the night on his journey to Haran. Using a stone as a pillow, he dreams of a magnificent ladder extending from earth to heaven, with angels ascending and descending it. At the top of the ladder stands God, who reaffirms the promise made to Jacob's ancestors: his descendants will inherit the land, and through them, all nations will be blessed. Awaking in awe, Jacob realizes he has encountered a holy place, naming it Bethel, and vows that if God blesses and protects him, he will remain faithful.



In the quiet of the night, on a journey far away, Jacob rests his weary head, where the stones quietly lay. Dreams take him to a place where heaven meets the earth, A ladder touched by angels, in this land of sacred worth. Oh, Jacob's Ladder, reaching to the sky, Angels moving up and down, under God's watchful eye. In Bethel, God's voice speaks with grace profound, Promises of blessings, where love and faith abound. Awake with awe and wonder, Jacob lifts his eyes, "This place is surely holy, beneath these starry skies." He marks the stone as sacred, pledges his faithful vow, "If God is with me always, I'll worship and I'll bow."
